Metamorphosis
A fifteen-foot kinetic butterfly — articulated wings flap and flutter naturally, internally illuminated panels shifting through chromatic geometric patterns.
A monumental kinetic sculpture in steel with articulated wing mechanisms and internally illuminated panels. Wings move in continuous slow cycles driven by custom motion control. LED panels shift through evolving chromatic patterns. The form reads as creature, lantern, and kinetic structure simultaneously.
Commissioned as the centerpiece for Electric Forest's Jardin de Sueños, the butterfly serves as form rather than symbol — a vehicle for exploring transformation through motion and light. Encountered at night among trees, it operates as sculptural presence rather than decoration.
"Vibrant with color and alive with movement — festival goers drew positive energy from Metamorphosis and were attracted to it like a moth to a flame." — Eugene Kim, My Modern Met
Acquired by AEG following debut, establishing the studio's capability to deliver large-scale technical installations on institutional timelines.
